Thanks all for your suggestions. The reason I asked was my PVR is going for repair, could take up to 6 weeks. In the mean time I wanted to start over again when my new MX-780 arrives and thought it would be handy to comment out a line here and there. Indeed I can use a dummy device to do that as well.

Make changes, delete out dvr codes or just leave them in temp, the codes will fire but there is nothing to respond to the codes.
File---save as... "DVR Service"
DVR is repaired
