As for the kids who feel life should be handed to them, do you blame them?

Yes! Once you are an adult, I don't care what your parents did, the person is responsible for their own actions. I place blame upon the parents until the kid is an adult.

Look at how we have brought them up.

We? Don't count me in your we! I didn't bring anyone up this way.

Go to school - no one gets left behind, no one fails anymore. Sure it might still be hard to get an A+, but a B requires little effort if you are even a little bit smart.

I've always been against the nobody left behind, everyone is a winner philosophy. I believe in small kids all getting some play time for a sport... but later in life, the best play. You either put in the time to become good, or do something else.

Play video games, die (Loose) and just pop up with a new life ready for action.
Want to level up without much effort, there are web sites devoted to telling you how to do that for just about every game out there. Why go to all that trouble of earning your way up the ranks.

I think video games teaching life skills, is a joke. I don't buy it, never will. I've played FPS games for many years, have yet to go on a rampage shooting spree.

Play sports - everyone gets a trophy at the end of the season, even the biggest looser. By the time your 15 you too can have a trophy case at home filled with meaningless dust collectors, just for showing up to play. Ahh the memories...

Horrible idea. Not my idea, and I don't support this philosophy, as least not past the age of 8.

Watch TV, Shows are either about 20 - 30 somethings that lead wonderful lives with no sign of how they earn an income, or they are about 20 -30 somethings that go out and behave like retards (am I allowed to say retards?) with no sign of how they can afford to do the stupid things they do. Or we have shows about people willing to look stupid just for the chance of easy money.

If kids aren't smart enough to realize that TV shows are not real indications of life, they have serious mental challenges. I don't know of a kid that doesn't realize the difference.

Then of course there is the internet and all the moronic videos that get passed around showing even more stupid people doing stupid things.

Look, all those lemmings are jumping off a cliff, follow them! Please, then I don't have to listen to more drivel like this posting.

If you pump enough stupidity into someone's brain, where do you think they are going to end up?

You mean drivel like your posting, where everyone is responsible, except the kid and the parents?

In places like India and China, there probably is not much of a middle class. So working hard in school, if your lucky enough to be able to go, is not an option, it's a must.

Don't kid yourself... there are underachievers in China. Lots of them. But if you're not willing to put in a certain amount of effort... you starve. Don't expect food stamps in China!

Here kids know working hard can get you to the top, but you can also take easy street and still end up in the middle. And for so many of them, that's OK.

Anybody who wants to barely scrape by, is fine with me. Just don't expect me to pay higher health care costs, because they didn't want to pull their weight, and as a result chose not to get health care, so they could have a phone, and now want emergency room care. There is nothing in the Bill of Rights that guarantees health care, I say, let em croak!
