Many truths here. My girl is about to turn 12. Competitive sports have been great for all aspects of her life giving her confidence in tough situations. As a fast pitch softball pitcher there is a lot of pressure in the circle.

I have taught her how to fight dirty if needed ever since she was 4 years old. Equally important to teach our kids and wives is to be aware of your surroundings always looking for an escape if needed especially in unfamiliar places.

Most of the kids in sports are the ones we want her hanging around with and we know their families. She has not been the victim of bullying but it's around the school with some girls being very mean with their parents completely snowed by them.

Talking to them honestly about life and being a role model will help mold who they will become. Even at 11 she understands NEVER to send anything to anyone that she would not want mom and dad to see. And don't trust boys, they are liars.
