Today I called my life long best friend. Sometimes we go months without talking, and were catching up on work, families, etc. When I asked how everyone is doing, his immediate answer was "good". But as he continued he explained that he had to take his teenage daughter's cellphone away (she's not old enough to drive yet). Without prodding, he continued expanded that he had to do so because she and her boyfriend were sending pictures to each other. My first reaction was to laugh at his difficulty and bust his balls. But then I immediately remembered something. My oldest daughter is only about 5 years younger than his. CRAP! Something else to worry about.

So I thought I would pass this along so I'm not the only one worrying about this now. LOL

My Daughters are 16 and almost 14, The oldest is driving and she has a phone but no camera or texting on it.

I worried about things like that for the last 16 years.

My friend who has 3 daughters, his saying goes... with a boy you have to worry about (1) dick, with girls (daughters) you have to worry about EVERY dick!

Recently I saw an old friend at the Outback restaurant. He has two older daughters that are 19 and 15 and their youngest is 5 or 6.

The oldest one is smoking hot, I remember back when she was 6 or 7 years old running around his shop, she's now a sophomore in college and probably one of the prettiest young ladies I've laid eyes on in a while. She's a freakin 10 when it comes to looks, maybe not smarts lol.

I don't go to his shop very often, every couple of years. But back when she was 16 and I saw a picture of her in his office, I told him that he had better invest in a good shotgun.

I would see him through the years and would always remind him he needed to keep that shotgun ready.

So when I ran into him the other day and we were catching up on family, he proceeds to tell me that at the end of her freshman semester she tells him that she's pregnant and he's going to be a grand father.

Dude, I could hear the stress in his voice....

Your right Dads, you have to worry about all us dicks out there....

I don't envy your jobs.

I guess this really hit me today not just because it's my friend's daughter, but because I remember rocking her while feeding her a bottle.

I guess his prayers that she would get her mother's interest in sex were denied.

Shotguns alone aren't enough. You also need to find a place to get rid of a body and have a plan figured out ahead of time so you don't panic and make a mistake. Start stockpiling Lyme now so you won't have any big purchases later to tip anyone off. Lol

Many ways to look at this.

Daughters are a constant worry for several reasons.

When mine started to "mature" around the age of 13 or so, she turned from this sweet little angle, to a hormonal raged PITA she-devil... literally over a period of a few months...and it lasted for several years. Man was I glad when that passed (around her 17th B Day).

Fast forward, she's now a senior in college, graduating this year. Her freshman year in college, we had to get a restraining order on a Chinese Exchange student who was stalking her. That was a surreal experience in its own right (several trips to court in front of a judge), which ain't cheap when it involves out of town travel. I was never so glad to see her get a permanent boyfriend shortly there after. I knew he would put a hurt on that little Chinese guy if he got within 100 feet of my daughter. So a boyfriend for a daughter can be a good thing. Just my .02. YMMV.

My rule for my 20 yr old daughter who is a JR in college is simple. Male, female, inanimate object, I hate them all! No luck so far with that theory.....

I bought my first shotgun the week my wife had our daughter...  I also grew up with 2 older sisters, so i know of the psychotic years which are sure to eventually come.  Not looking forward to the teenage years..
All you can do is raise them right, teach them to respect themselves and others and just be a REAL parent and help guide them along their way...

This way you won't end up with a spoiled little sexting, shit bag, back talking, cursing vermin that so many of our customers seem to have!

My Brazilian friend is STILL that way! She's 39! And getting logrythmically ragier!

Many truths here. My girl is about to turn 12. Competitive sports have been great for all aspects of her life giving her confidence in tough situations. As a fast pitch softball pitcher there is a lot of pressure in the circle.

I have taught her how to fight dirty if needed ever since she was 4 years old. Equally important to teach our kids and wives is to be aware of your surroundings always looking for an escape if needed especially in unfamiliar places.

Most of the kids in sports are the ones we want her hanging around with and we know their families. She has not been the victim of bullying but it's around the school with some girls being very mean with their parents completely snowed by them.

Talking to them honestly about life and being a role model will help mold who they will become. Even at 11 she understands NEVER to send anything to anyone that she would not want mom and dad to see. And don't trust boys, they are liars.
