Pro or DIY does not matter.
You can not put two tons of fertilizer in a one ton truck.
Multiple STB's is the way I (Pro) would go if I could not afford (or justify) a matrix.
Taking HDMI down to Component only works (consistently) with HD Fury (and for how long that will work is unknown) all other options are FUBAR (tested them all).
BTW: This only covers today not the HDMI2.0 future (it only gets worse).
