Don't pro's come here for FREE advice? Should we start charging each other? Is that your point Fins? LOL.

I'll ASSume something here: Fins is not strictly objecting to the request for free advice, but to the repeated requests for information on how to do something that none of us would do unless we absolutely had to, that is, how to do something on the edge of wrong.

He's been given clear advice as to how to do it right but insists on trying to work out how to do it wrong.

Steve,
Why do you want to invest your time in learning how to cobble together obsolete things? Do you have a scientific calculator but you want to learn how to work a slide rule? Do you have an AM radio but you want to learn how to tune a TRF receiver? (The fact that you probably haven't heard of TRF is exactly my point.)

Everybody,
Since it's now been pointed out that four Rokus may cost less than the distribution he's asking about, it will be interesting to see if he just gets four Rokus, or instead sits there trying to feed hay to his Model T.

Seriously dude.  Are you just trolling us now?

Impaqt is not only a moderator, he's very moderate.  He does not fly off the handle here about anything, but instead acts when things become egregious.  And he's accusing Steve of trolling.  Steve?  Realize you've got google, please? Take the advice that's been given, please?

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Ernie, that's pretty much it.

Ok, this is the best line I've seen in a long time

Sure I would like it for free, but no person is compelled to answer any of my questions that I post. Some people, not all, enjoy sharing knowledge with one another. I know I certainly do. But I deeply respect others who do not want to share their knowledge. It is their knowledge that they have worked very hard to obtain, and what they do with that knowledge is entirely up to them. Also, whatever they choose do to with that knowledge is the right thing whether it be share it, or keep it to themselves.

Actually many people have answered your many posts. The consensus is that the industry has almost entirely moved to hdmi and converting back to analog video has been deemed "not allowed" and there really only seems to be one product that defies that and they charge what they charge for that product. So either purchase the HD fury or upgrade your system to current generation hardware as has been suggested many times or just buy old technology such as a Roku 1 with component video outputs or finally just dont try to add any new technology sources to your antiquated setup.

Steve, I just read your last post.

I understand there's a reason for pain in the human body. It's to alert the consciousness that something needs attention, that something is wrong. We usually don't think about whether pain is a good idea or a bad idea, we just try to do something about it. Sometimes pain is just an odd sensation, or a tickle, and we try to take care of it at that level. When it turns into pain we go further.
And after we have done all we can, if the pain doesn't stop, we just want it to stop!

We want to help people who ask questions. Heck, we've proven that by answering you over and over. How about giving us some respect by honoring our increasing sense that you are turning into pain... and just take our advice?

So is it four Rokus, or what?

...slide rule?

Damn, you Ernie; now I have to learn how to use the slide rule.

Update:
Couple of videos later I can conclude that they were kinds cool; never had to learn how to use one in school.

I think that Steve keeps asking questions so that he can learn more about AV systems. While we may get frustrated with giving him good answers to doing things the right way but he has always been polite and seems grateful for our advice and suggestions.

While I believe the best way to distribute Roku to 4 TVs is to velcro a Roku to the back of each TV, for the sake of discussion how about using an ATSC HD modulator that would modulate the HDMI output of a Roku to coax and run coax to the ATSC input on the TVs.

If you are going to do the job...why not do it the right way?

Hello thecapnredfish;
I think you get where I am coming from. This is my hobby. If people don't want to as you say "give me a break" and help me learn about home a/v they can just ignore my posts. Also, if you guys tell me to go away I will. Don't want to be where I am not wanted.

Steve for you the easiest/least expensive way for YOU to do this is to buy one Roku per TV.

The way a PRO would do it:
Change All TVs/AVRs to ensure they all have HDMI.
Install an HDMI Matrix system, that is compatible with the other equipment on the Job.
Reduce the number of sources, no need to have 7 STB if only 2 people live in home.
Install a Control system/universal remote for each zone.

Oh please link back to this post for answers to your other 3-4 posts.

Pro or DIY does not matter.
You can not put two tons of fertilizer in a one ton truck.
Multiple STB's is the way I (Pro) would go if I could not afford (or justify) a matrix.
Taking HDMI down to Component only works (consistently) with HD Fury (and for how long that will work is unknown) all other options are FUBAR (tested them all).
BTW: This only covers today not the HDMI2.0 future (it only gets worse).

Right, so multiple Roku in this case.

I don't trust HDMI enough to screw with it, also something about HDFury basiclly doing away with proper HDCP feels wrong to me from an ethics stand point.

Hey 2.0 and UHD is awesome! A new thing to break all our client's set ups

HDMI makes me long for those days of three channels on that funky black and white TV...

Silly rabbit ears were the biggest problem, but you could just move them a bit and life was good.

Crestron 6x6 matrix and room boxes. They work great!

Oh, but I have ask, "Do you ever actually use any of the advice you receive?"
