You're full of it, the only way to prevent the cable from bouncing the signal off the component and controlling similar gear, is by tenting.
it would depend on the emitters being used. Im not a fan of urc emitters, but they are good at blocking the ir signal from dispersing to other devices. The tops of the emitters are opaque, and only a pinhole is opened to see the red flash.
