I am getting them from an authorized distributor in NY. Only two of the remotes are exhibiting the issue. The third one would just refuse to connect. The system is as simple as it gets: the bedroom one is just a cable box and apple tv connected to a Samsung TV. No flags, no crazy macros, just some delay for the TV inputs. I already checked with RTI and of course it is the file according o them.

What exactly in the file can be contributing to this behavior?

So you have ruled out a bad file on your own and it must be RTI's fault? because it couldn't be a virus on your system, right? have you tried another computer? sent them the file? i had a bad usb board on a Dell laptop that created a lot of connectivity issues and partial downloads
