I don't know who you spoke with at RTI, but that just isn't the experience I have - or ever had. It seems very unlikely that you purchased three bad remotes in a row. Where are you getting your remotes from? I would talk to the distributor or supplier where you are coming from and let them explain or investigate this on your behalf. In the meantime you should check these batteries and see if you can see any physical signs that they may have been exposed to extreme heat or other conditions. We incorporate these remotes all the time and seldom have any issues. In fact, since the + series have arrived we have not had any issues.
The experience you are having with tech is simply not the norm. I would escalate this and see if it is something with your configuration that is crashing the remote which can happen, but unlikely. However, given that three remotes in a row have been problematic - all with th same symptoms I am going to bet it's not the actual remote.
