I've had several people over the years ask to route audio to the tv so that they didn't have to use the system just to watch the news. I don't get that.
I was with you on this for years. I've finally given in and set up a few like that; HDMI pass-through made it easier.
Then my girlfriend started watching Nightline. I'm in an apartment, upstairs, and at freakin' eleven o'clock at night, Nightline feels it MUST have background music with LOTS of BASS DRUM that's almost embarrassingly loud. I feel I have to mute it until the guy starts to talk.
Suddenly, I see that just having the sound come out of the TV speakers would be just fine. The last guy for whom I set this up has his system in the room below the master bedroom. I get it.
