I had the same thing on my remote a while back. Try a stylus or the back of a pen rather than a large finger to calibrate it. If your software is corrupt it can be restored to default. However I think you need to calibrate it first. Let me now and I will dig out the restore instructions.

Thanks for the reply - that is what I did, and it worked!

I was able to then use Tonto to undead the remote and download the default pcf, and then I loaded my one, and it's up and running.

I actually bought this one to salvage the case from for one that got dropped, but getting it going saved me the trouble.
