If you are using firefox, get a free plugin called "noscript" this will block everything including the site itself. there is a drop down menu that lists all of the blocked items. From this list you can simply select what items you will allow.

On remote central  for example beside google-anaylitics (which is everywhere) there is also--
viglink
doubleclick
google syndication
clickerpicker

all floating silently in the background. Noscript blocks all of this
