I think your distributor is confusing the two remotes. The TRC-780 needs an MRX-10 and does not currently have its own IR output but may in the future. This has benn shipping for the last 3 months. The hardware is capable of IR output but it is not set up to work in the software and if activated would still require the MRX-10. This is only available through direct dealers.
So the concept that it's a $299 remote is completely untrue. The thread title asks about an "entry" level computer programmable... and the answer is NO if you think it will cost $299. Right? How much is the MRX-10?
The MX-980 is like the other MX series remotes and has its own IR output and can be used as a stand alone remote without a base station. It can be used with the MRF or MSC base stations if needed. This SHOULD be available via distribution but is not shipping yet.
You're the first one in this thread to mention the MX-980. Everyone else has said 780, whether it's MX or TRC. So that adds to the confusion.
Both look identical and are price the same price $299. So that's probably the reason for the confusion.
Yeah, except one guy has been using the TRC-780 for three months, says it's computer programmable (which disables the IR), doesn't mention the base unit, and says it's $299. Confusion.
I'll just phone URC tomorrow.
