Do you have access to update the URC database? The VSX-1020 is there.
It is there in a strange format. Instead of one device, they show many under the VSX-1020. I just now learned that the ones I did get for HDMI1, HDMI2 etc. don't work. The Pioneer remote button for HDMI only cycles through the HDMI inputs.
