I thought I would give my updated times. I'm using the same Prodigy Laptop from crestron. i have upgraded to w7 home premium 64-bit giving me 4gigs ram instaed of 3, and a OCZ SSD.

Composer to SB was 10 Min, Now = 4.8 seconds

Same file Build in SB was 6min 17sec on 2.6gHz pc - this laptop now 12min 34sec

Actually, i think i did those first test on my desktp pc which has 7200 HDD and a 2.66 GHz cpu, where as this laptop is only 2.0GHz cpu. but i think the test still carries some weight.

Systembuilder opening time = 1min 1sec - WAY quicker than before.

So while my laptop runs quicker overall, when it comes time to compile, the 2.0Ghz still sucks. i think this is a Pentium dual core also, so maybe a better 2.0 cpu would do it slightly quicker.

to confrim, while this is dual core, monitorning the CPU usage during compile never went above 55% suggesting that Crestron can only make use of a single core.

so, IMO a 15/17 dual core with a base speed of 2.8 or so and OC up to 3.2-3.5, paired with a SSD would probably yield the best performance running Crestron Software.
do wino hue?
