Some I'm wondering if W7 alone will be the increase in performance i need. My laptop from Crestron still sucks and will have to be replaced.
When an application becomes CPU-bound, by definition it is spending all of its time in that app and not the OS. As such, it is very doubtful switching over to Win7 will make any difference.
All the times I have reported are on Win7 BTW.
Edit: The above is an oversimiplification. It is possible to have an app be CPU bound and spend all of its time in the operating system. But this workload doesn't seem to be of that type.
