On my web site (www.the-gordons.net) there is a document that you should be able to easily locate (Bottom of first page follow link to documents, downloads, etc...) and find a document (MS Word) entitled Pronto PRO Communications. While it was written for the Pronto PRO line of remotes it does cover the basics of RS232 communications, jargon, cabling, etc.
