i don't know, but I spent way too long assuming that I was doing something wrong.  I ended up using the press and hold work around, but this doesnt work for the remotes that arent capable of this feature.  I have three MX450s in this configuration that can't scroll fast though the guide without constantly tapping the arrow keys or page up/down buttons.  not too happy about this....
