I purchased a 37' LCD HD Akai tv with no remote. Can anyone make a recommendation for a model to purchase that will work with the Akai model-LCT37Z4AD??

The good news is that there's a Philips universal remote that I found which will work with it...but the only issue is that I can't figure out which code it uses! It's the CL035A, and one of the codes definitely works. Getting to this point was quite the experience. I bought mine in November - openbox - and figured I'd order the remote from Akai...only to find over 5 long months that it's been discontinued, like you I'm sure.
If I can figure out the code I'll email you - I ended up buying a second TV on eBay just for the remote, not knowing it was a universal...so since I didn't program it, I don't know which code. The instructions on figuring out the code don't work either...so I'm a little stuck - but it definitely works.

OK - For anyone who has one of these god-forsaken TVs and has had the same runaround that I got from AKAI, Fox International, or anyone else that I spent time with, and gave money to, claiming that this remote is in stock and can ship it - it's a lie. This remote, I finally found out after close to a year of searching, is OUT OF PRODUCTION. Will not be made again.
The GREAT news is that Philips makes a universal, probably more than one, that will work with it. Against everything AKAI told me, that there are no codes which will work with it, I found one.
The remote I have is a Philips PM335, and it also has a CLO35A on a sticker in the battery compartment. Use this following method to program remote code # 1912.
1. Press and hold the code search button until it stays lit 2. Press and quickly release the TV button. The light will blink and stay lit. 3. Enter 1-9-1-2 and the light will blink, then go out.
You're done. Works great, works the TV, DVD player, everything!

Over a year has gone by and I also finally discovered that my Verizon FIOS universal remote will also control this TV. None of the AKAI codes listed work, but using the code-finder process for the remote definitely works - you'll need to go at least 100-150 codes into the search, but it works just fine.
