I picked up a $5 Yamaha receiver at goodwill but it didn't have a remote and you can't access the menu through the front panel. I bought a $7 Yamaha look-a-like remote on Amazon and while it will bring up the "basic" menu (not advanced menu) the center select button actually toggles audio mute rather than a "select" command, so I can't actually get into even the basic menu. I can use this remote for things like power on/off and volume but I can't actually access the menu system. Can someone point me to a cheap universal remote that can access the menu system? Thanks!!

Any CCP supported remote will work with the HTR-5740. I would get a good used MX-880 and program it to work with ALL you other devices as well as the Yam. Make sure the seller also includes the software to program it.
