I tend to be particular in watching TV, DVD or listening to music. I tend to fiddle with the TV color and or brightness depending on what I am watching. Additionally I tend to vary the sound with the various DSP modes on my Yamaha ysp-4000 sound projector depending if I am watching sports programing, a movie or listening to music. Looking for a remote that I can press "Watch TV" or "Watch DVD" or "Hear Music" and all the functions will be done by the one activity. Like hard buttons for the simple stuff like volume Up/Down, Changing channels, Cable Channel Guide, Play dvd/CD, Stop dvd/CD. Most all remotes do this but I want to be able to program the uniquie features of the devices such as changing the dsp modes on the receiver or pulling up the menu on the dvd player, or the receiver or seeing the OSD screen without having to go back to all the orginial remotes. Most remotes allow you to program any function to any key but I do not have to want to constantly remember and figure out if key "X" gets me to dsp Sports on the receiver and key "Y" brings up the menu on my TV and key "Z" brings up the OSD on my cd player. Maybe I am asking to much and there is no such a universal remote. In any case I would like your opinion.

Equipment: TV Samsung UN55C6500 (Internet ready)
Receiver/Speaker: Yamaha YSP-4000
DVD Player Samsung 5500
CD Player Sony CD850 (200 Disc Player)

look at learning remotes with a screen. There are many to pick from. Some of the fancier ones have touch screens where you can design the buttons any way you want. Some of the cheaper simpler ones have a label area with buttons on the side of it.
