Been trawling this forum looking at likely threads and hunting around google, but nothing quite fits my need.
I have customised a product for charities to give to elderly/blind people, but it's not ideal because of the tacky remote it comes with. So as an option, I wanted to offer a big button remote.

For a while, the URC-7210 was looking good, but it's hard to come by and every single key needs custom fiddling - there's no setup code for it.

Secondly, the unit itself has this daft thing where it requires recall, then a multiple input key, then the 2 digits for anything over 10.

I remember having a remote years ago where you could program a key to increment each time it was pressed. I have a feeling it would have been my long-gone and sadly missed URC-7560 which would have been perfect - chunky, learning, plus macros. Anything to cut down the number of keypresses.

The Sony RM-EZ4T would have been fine, but doesn't have the learning feature or the code to operate the device, and I can't find the punchthrough type codes that made the URC-7210 workable.

A Silvercrest URC 101 I found in Lidl was almost perfect. The problem is, Lidl never have the same things twice. Here it is:

Silvercrest don't answer emails of where I can buy it elsewhere.

A couple of other points:

1: This is going to be about 40-50 units, not commercial quantities.
2: Charities will be providing it - lower the cost the better.

So I don't care what the brand is, as long as it works!
(Oh, and preferably beeps, but that's an extra).

How about the RF10:

[Link: amazon.com]

Has memory to learn a command to every key in every device, has macros. You can purchase 30 from amazon. Great remote. Theres a shift function, so you can hide the commands in the macro. The Rf10's are now silver.

Thank you - I probably should have mentioned that I am in the UK - once shipping, import etc is added on, it's about $80!

I'll keep looking, but can't find them in UK anywhere.

If the UK version is like our's over here, it can also learn a command to each key in each device. And has macros.

The Silvercrest looks good on paper, but physically it's quite small so operation might be problematic, even for someone with good eyesight.

If you can do without punchthrough there are a several Chunghop models that might work; e.g. the E885 . . .

They are, however, what they are - cheap and cheerful (with the emphasise on the cheap).

I have examples of both of the above so if you'd like to take a look/try, drop me a line (email address in my profile). I'm U.K. based so postage won't be an issue.
