Hello Everyone,
I am currently finishing my basement and I will have 3 Motorola HD cable boxes, DVD Player and Onkyo receiver behind a wall of 3 LCD TVs. I need a system to control 3 of the same type cable boxes for 3 separate TVs, TVs (mainly power and volume) and DVD player. Plus, would like to control the receiver throughout the house.
Received a quote on an URC system RF for $850, I have $850 however what I am trying to accomplish is not worth $850 personally.
Not sold on any brand or system and would appreciate your past experiences and advice.

You'll need an addressable RF system, cheapest model is the mx-350, and a separately sold RF basestation, mrf-260.

Thanks Edmund,

I had a person tell me today that the MX-350 would not control three of the same type cable boxes?

The remote by itself, no. But with addressable basestation, yes.

You would set up 3 identical cable box devices, set each to RF only, assign it a different output each on the Rf basestation. Then tape the IR repeater cable to the cable boxes so the only IR commands eaching the cable box come over the IR repeater cable from the RF basestation.

They don't know what they are talking about, you can assign the 6 outputs of the MRF-350 independantly. Also, RF range is something to keep in mind when using a remote throughout the house,
"You can't fix stupid."

Thanks guys. I am looking at my cable box and do not see a "switch" to set to RF only. Or were you referencing the base station? Want to make sure I don't have an issue with my cable boxes before I purchase URC equipment.

Thanks in advance, I would rather eat dirt than have to call Comcast for help.

No, I was refering to mx-350 remote, each device can be set independently to either IR only, RF only, or IR & RF both. When set to RF only, no IR will be emitted fromm the remote for that particular device.
