I need a three way dimmer that can be controlled with a pronto. I have 8 recessed lights that are 480watts. Also have another switch on/off in another room that will be controlling the ht lights. That switch has two on/offs one for the ht and one for the stairs. I have no idea what all that I need. It would be simple if it was a single pole but I don't understand what is needed for the other switch with the double on/offs. Does x-10 make something like this or should I be looking at the lutron spacers? I have the ir543 with a few lamp dimmers. Thanks, Jeff

Yes, you can certainly do that with x10 controls. There are a lot of options to you.

Jeff, when 3-way switches are replaced with X-10 switches/dimmers, what happens is that all of the switching/dimming is done at one switch's location by the 'master', and the companion 'slave' switch is basically a wired remote for the master, and replaces the second 3-way.

X-10 was designed from the beginning to be used with existing wiring, for 'universal' compatibility. With a few exceptions, either X-10 unit may be installed in either original location; a few X-10 models require the master in one particular box.
