I live in an apartment and therefore cannot mess with the wiring. I have a light that I would like to be able to turn on and off using the existing light switch but also be able to use my pronto, ir543 and lamp module to control the dimming capabilities and on/off capabilities. Does anyone have any idea how this can be done. Right now if I flick the switch on and off really quick the light will turn on and off but if I just turn it off for a few seconds and back on it won't turn the light on. I have to use the remote to turn it on. Any ideas on how to remedy this. Will another type of plugin module work? Thanks for any help you have.

I think you're going to have to change out the switch...

Ryan,

Is this a lamp or in-ceiling light?

It is a lamp. The electrical socket is controlled by the light switch.

That is not the same as "local control".

Technically you are just unplugging it and plugging it back in when you flip the switch. I'm not sure they make a module that will work based on that.

I live in an apartment and put a WS12A in, took all of 5 minutes and allows me control by IR543 and my RF transceiver.

Another possible solution would be to just ignore that switch, keep the lamp module that you have and get a TM751 Transceiver and a SS13A Wireless Switch. Then you'd have three unit codes available and dimming at the switch, not to mention you could get more SS13As and put them elsewhere in the room for a wireless three way circuit.

Just put in a lamp module, [Link: homeautomationnet.com] leave the switch on, this along with the IR543 and you are done.

I would like to be able to walk into my apartment and turn the light on and off without having to go to my remote and turn it on. I ended up buying those wireless switches and an RF transciever so hopefully that will work. Now I just need to recieve. Thanks for the help.
