I just purchased a Switchlinc 2384 dimming switch. It solved my buzzing halogen problem, but doesn't seem to be working just right. From a x10 hand controller, it works fine, on.. off.. dim... etc... But using my Pronto, through an IR543, it only responds to ALL ON or ALL OFF. Even from the IR543 controls, straight ON/OFF will not work. Is there something unusual about this switch or the ALL ON/OFF command? When I use the Pronto, the LED on the switch flashes as if it received an X10 command, but nothing happens.

Thanks!

You sure you have the codes set properly, and the 1-4/5-8 slide switch in the proper position?

Yes, the switch is in the proper position. All other lights work fine.

Why would that make a difference? The IR543 is suppose to work on all 16 house codes, regardless of the switch setting.

I notice similar function when Using a maxi controller When plugged into the same circuit as my computer desk. but only when Desk is on. Perhaps these codes are more susceptible to noise than the all on all off. Effects a few of my other X10 brand stuff also not just my switchlincs. Im probably going to buy one of ACTs large filters for my computerdesk since these switchs work fine from everywhere else.

Rob, it's the IR543AH that works on all house codes. Perhaps you mean that all of the unit codes should work. That's true. I suggested this because the buttons on the unit itself don't work. You still need to be sure that all of the house codes are set the same, too.

Big G is right. Computer systems are noisy, and noise-suppressor strips suck, X-10 speaking. The computer system needs to be isolated from the rest of the house, and this is what a noise filter would do.

Larry, you are right.. I meant unit codes.

Well, things got really weird. I shut off every breaker in the house, except that controlling the basment X10 lights and 3 outlets. NOTHING was running. Still no luck. ALL ON/OFF works, but no luck with unit 4, my track lights on the Switchlinc switch.

So for some crazy reason, I decided to set all unit codes for all 4 lights in the basement to unit code 3. Wammo! They all came on by pressing unit 3 ON on the IR543. Even the track lights. I tried it from my Pronto, and it still worked. I then moved all the incandecent lights on regular x10 switches to unit codes 1,2, & 4. AND THEY ALL WORK, even the incandescent on unit code 4.

For some reason, the Switchlinc switch would not work as unit 4 via the IR543. It worked fine on 4 using a standard x10 remote. Works on unit code 3 though. And that is where I left it. I don't understand it, but at this point, I don't care. :)

Case closed!

Thanks for all your help and suggestions.

Rob
