I know there have been a lot of threads on a very similar topic, but I still need a bit of advice/clarification on my particular situation.
I have a set of three halogens from the Home Depot (don't know what brand) above a small dry bar. These are CURRENTLY controlled and DIMMED successfully using a standard wall mounted dimmer switch (non X10). I would like to automate these lights.
Does the X10 wall switch and dimmer use different technology than a standard wall dimmer that would cause it not to work? I believe the answer is yes, but I want to make certain.

The method of dimming is the same, weather it's x10 or not. Weather an x10 dimmer will work in this case is unknown, but it has nothing to do with the triac. try it and see.

JM, if the halogens are 120V. bulbs, then any dimmer, X-10 or not, will work fine. Just pay attention to the total wattage. Larry www.fineelectricco.com
