Hi Gang

I recently purchased a Leviton HCA02 repeater/amplier. I had heard that some people are having problems with these units, can someone please tell me the types of problems that they are having with these unit?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thank you, Glenn

Seams at the very least it has problem repeating any extended codes. Although I had a customer that could not get it to do anything. I hate to knock any product (they all have their place) but this one seams like a problem, I a least a dozen e-mails from customers who finally got fed up with the HCA and sent it back, to their dealer. The price is good on it, but a good repeater is supposed to make your system more reliable, not less. If you want a good one go with ACT, [Link: act-solutions.com] they make them for industrial applications and they do the job.

I wasted way too much time with the Leviton repeater.

In my case it would get locked up repeating codes with my X10 RF tranceiver.

Even with the tranceiver removed it made the x10 in my house less consistent. (areas that worked with it off, stopped working with it on) I think it was corrupting weak X10 signals, but I can't be sure.

I replaced it with an ACT repeater and X10 in my house has been rock solid.

I use all PCS switches, a couple Smartlinc control pads and an Ocelot for timing and home theater integration. I am somewhat unhappy with the Smartlinc pads, but the rest of the stuff has exceeded my expectations. Especially the little Ocelot which FAR FAR more useful than I had expected.

Hi Gang

Can someone please tell me what the Ocelot is used for? Is it sort of the same as the CM11-A from X-10?

Thank you, Glenn

Yes, the CM11A and Ocelot are sorta the same in the same way that a pocket calculator is sorta the same as a desktop computer.

The Ocelot does what the CM11A does and a lot more. It's programming interface is much more sophisticated, it sends and receives IR and it is expandable.
