How do you guys deal with multi-room distrubition and theaters?

Example:
I want to put in three B&K 600.1's to serve the house audio. I also have two seperate AVR's dealing with the 5.1 and 7.1 audio for two zones. Do you just not use amp for two of zones on the B&K?

I think you are asking if we use the line out of the 600.1 and set it to fixed for the surround rooms. If that is your question, then this is my answer...

I do this with both B&K and Crestron...

Use the composite video to switch digital audio as well.

I've done that before with other matrix switchers. I just hate wasting a zone amp on a zone which is using a separate AVR. I have three 5.1/7.1 systems as well as 13 other zones. It would be sweet if they made a preamp only multizone controller which could be linked with the rest of the system.

You can use the HD6 as a multizone preamp.
Who says you can't put 61" plasmas up on cantilever mounts using toggle bolts? <---Thanks Ernie ;)

Yeah good call. Unfortunetly it's roughly the same retail price of the 600.3 and I was looking for a cheaper alternative.

My problem is that I'm eating some of this because I installed a poorly designed system and I want to install the correct products to make the project right.

Sometimes you have to look at as investing in your education when you goof. In the end there is a right way to do things, and a wrong way. Get in the habit of one or the or the other...

I agree! That's why I'm fixing it on my dime. Most of us learn from the mistakes made on a job. Whether the mistakes are poor decisions, poor products choices, or product failure, you learn what to do and what not to do.

It was a job that started out with 6 audio zones. That's it. Then it grew to distrubuted video, more audio zones and pretty soon got out of hand. I was trying to make it work with the products I installed and realized it didn't fit the clients needs. You can ask why I didn't ask the right questions from the beginning but I thought I did. They wouldn't discuss budgets or even change out the old Niles IR volume controls and they didn't really have any expectations.

And trust me, my habits are envolving every day!
