Don't know if I should just give back the controller to my friend, I don't want to pay $500 to have the remote programmed by a professional installer. Where do I start? I just want to program my remote to control my dishnetwork receiver and to work with an RF receiver (RP1 receiver) because my theatre system is hidden in a cabinet. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The integration designer software needed to program the remote is only available to RTI dealers. RTI doesn't allow end users to have the program. The only thing you can do is find your local dealer and ask about there programming costs, or give the controller back.

Story sounds good, you probably should give back the RP-1 also.

This story brings back memories of prior customers................"my (insert the following person) brother in-law, sister, dad, friend of a friend, brother................got me the equipment from the manufacturer at a huge employee discount, could you hook it up? I don't want to spend a lot of money"

RTI and their affiliates are bound for bankruptcy in this economic environment if they cater only to the rich. Not many people are gonna spend $500 to program a basic remote control. RIP RTI -- you had a nice run ripping people off.

Hey, you got $1000 worth of gear for free. If you want it to work, just pay the man!
RTI is doing just fine, and so is Crestron, AMX, Elan, Home Logic and others who restrict their software to authorized dealers.

What's funny is that all the closing car dealerships around here are the Fords, Chevy's, Dodge's, etc.. None of the Mercedes, Porshe, BMW, etc. are closing shop, sure things have slowed down, but they run their businesses better, and don't need to be bailed out.

I think meatpost needs to stop his whinning, and stick to what he can afford.

Yeah I got a random PM from someone I don't know asking for the software...pleading his case that he has the intellect to program this stuff...probably an EE.

His username was Hayden and Maajed was under his closing. Just a heads up.

Benford you are giving this guy too much credit...he should go to walmart get the $14 philips and let him cry to them...I too got the pm for the software...it's been a while since a dyi has been whining for software on here...i guess it is that time again....he doesn't have to give it back, he can just sit it on his mantle, stare at it and wish he was priveleged enough to have such control!!
