Ok, Ive got a projection tv. In the back it has an Y Pb Pr input. Why? Is it better than the normal cable input I have and if so how do I impliment it because I have yet to see anyhing that uses that. Is there a s-video to Y Pb Pr converter ? Help, Im lost!

It's component video. If you've never seen this before, your in for a treat! Most DVD players these days have a component video output.
It's the step before RGB, three steps above RF, two steps above composite video, and one step above YC video. (In the natural order of video that is)
Simply to say, it's pretty amazing for a sync 'included' video signal!

To elaborate upon what Matt said, look for a DVD player with separate red, green, and blue video jacks. They carry the signals for each video primary color on separate cables. Larry www.fineelectricco.com

Well, I'd be willing to bet that someone who does so can afford a nice theater.

An' I thought Y Pb Pr was the formula for nerve gas. That's what the guy who sold it to me claimed....

Y = Luminance signal ( a weighted sum of R, G & B components) Pb = R-Y = colour difference red, it is the G + B signal (cyan) Pr = B-Y = colour difference blue, it is the R + G signal (yellow)

Well, standard cables will 'work' but I recommend getting some higher quality cables than the cheap stuff supplied with the equipment. Normally those are marketed as Stereo audio and video cables.
Maybe three runs of 75 ohm coax would be best, I like belden 1695a.

You should definitely have 75 ohm cables for any video. Regular audio cables are typically not 75 ohm, and even if they are, they usually have crappy shielding. Better to just buy appropriate cables.

Several companies make high quality component video cables. I'd sugest checking out www.audioadvisor.com for a good selection of cables.
