remote turns on tv but does not turn on receiver replaced batteries .how to check if remote is working.

Press a key on the remote as you point it at your cellphone camera, if you see flashes the remote is working.

thanks for the info ,no light from remote took apart sprayed with contact cleaner ,put back together and it works thanks much 73 va7dhp.
