Hi!

This is my story:

I recently learned that there was a way to unlock the timemachine function (locked for my country) in my LG LCD 42LD650 by entering the service menu.

I entered the service menu using my Nokia N95 along with an app called Psiloc irRemote

http://irremote.psiloc.com/

It has a wide database of remotes and an interesting option to easily convert LIRC codes to use them with the app in your symbian phone.

I unlocked the timemachine option... it works ok, BUT, to use its full features i need the REC button in my remote (wich i don't have off course), SO back to the PHONE! i searched a LIRC file of a compatible remote wich has the infamous REC button, i converted it, installed in my phone and VOILA! it worked on my LCD "REC BUTTON OK!"

The thing is, i tried to teach this button to my RM VL600, but it doesn't seem to pick up the signal from the phone, it just keeps giving me 5 flashes of the SET led, telling me it has a problem getting the signal.

Anyone has tried to teach a button to a learning capable remote from the phone?

Any ideas? maybe another way, something like this:

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Might have something to do with the fact that the phone's IRDA rather than CIR... the Sony might not be happy with this "simulation". However look on this site under Features -> Tips & Tricks to Learning IR Codes... one of those might help.

Thank you Daniel, you might be right on the irda issue, i tried the tips and none of them worked...i guess all i have left is to find a remote with that particular button, but it's hard to find one of those where i live.

Do you have anything else that can learn IR? Some other remote MIGHT be able to capture it from your phone, and then the Sony may be more inclinded to learn that learned signal.
