I recently purchased a Sony blu-ray DVD player. It came with an RMT-B107A remote control. The remote has buttons to turn on/off the tv as well as the dvd player, and volume control. However, the instructions provided no means of connecting the remote to the tv. Can anyone advise how to achieve this? Thanks.

What is the model number of the DVD player?

Perhaps I misunderstand your question, but I believe that the TV section of the remote only operates Sony TVs, and is factory programmed to do that. I have a RMT-B104A, and it toggles power and brings up the input menu on the TV without any "connecting" on my part.

All Sony TVs use the same IR signals for Power, Volume, etc.

Hi David. You may have figured this out already, but here's what I did to configure my remote to work with my non sony tv.

Visit this part of sony's support site and select your television brand in the drop down menu:

[Link: esupport.sony.com]

This gives you the code you'll need to enter in the next step.

Then, do as the instructions say. Hold down small green button for *TV* on/off. (Next to the input button).

Wait a bit, then enter the number code using the NUMBER PAD. (Sony's site tells you to use the arrow keys -- I don't know which tv sets this applies to, I had to use the number pads.)

I never saw anything come up on the tv screen, there was no prompt the enter the code, no confirmation. Just had to hold down the on/off button for a bit and then entered in the code as i continued to hold down the on/off button. It did work, however, and I can now control some functions of the television set with my RMT-B107A remote.

Your directions were spot on! I have an RCA TV, and it worked! Thanks for posting!
