I have an RM-AX1400 controlling the following components:
TV - Sony
Digital Audio/DVD combo - Sony
Satellite - Motorola

For the satellite, none of the pre-configured settings worked, so I had to learn the whole keypad. This was not so bad since it allowed me to reduce from 3 remotes to just 1. Then I made XPRESS buttons for TV and DVD. This was looking great, for example, on the TV-XPRESS, I set the Vol+/Vol- buttons for the DAV and the CH+/CH- buttons for the SAT - now this is getting more exciting!

BUT, there are two remaining glitches that appear to be related.
1. I have a button on the SAT component that brings up the on-screen program guide. It works fine if I select the SAT component. So I added that button to the TV-EXPRESS button layout. Here's the frustrating thing: in the emulator it works, but when I download to the remote, it doesn't work; in fact it doesn't appear to send anything (there is no tell-tale beep, nor indication).

2. I have two buttons on the DAV component for selecting inputs. These work fine on the DAV component, but they don't work on the TV-EXPRESS entry macro, and the DVD-XPRESS entry macro.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks,
Jake

I have absolutely no working experiance with that remote, but I did come across a picture of it that reminded me of a digital universal I was considering. If it is the same one, I was warned that it isn't entirely compatible with Vista or updates of Windows after 2006. Maybe that is why it is considerably cheaper than the Harmony? Just a theory.

Sorry if my response is way off in relation to your question; you used lingo that may as well been Japanese to a simple English speaking ol' fashioned analog TV user.

I have a feeling the more learned universal regulars will be of more help to you with this, but in the meantime you could always give this link a shot. It is a software update:

Really hope you get this sorted out. I feel your pain... remotely.

They may have resolved this issue with Windows 7, as it was about 3 months prior to its release that Sony mentioned some users were having problems. The sales guy focused more on Vista specifically.

The Sony update link was just a shot in the dark, but I just noticed the "last modified" date is 3 years old. Maybe that is why the glitch effects certain users after 2006. At any rate that link probably won't solve anything in this case.

Sorry, eejake.

Since I got a new Windows 7 computer, I am unable to download settings to the remote. Initially it did not even open the software, but I changed it to run in XP mode, so I was able to edit the commands. However I was not able to download the new commands to the device. I get the "The Remote Commander is not connected or not responding. Please ensure it is connected properly to your computer via the USB cable and click [Retry]" message. Meanwhile the remote screen reads "USB Mode," so it is obviously connected.
Any suggestions?

It sounds like the driver for the remote control is not being loaded.  You need to look in the device manager and see if there is a device with a question mark or exclamation point next to it.  If that is the case then the driver for the remote has not been loaded.  Is this the case?
Do or Do not, There is no Try.
