I have a vl900 and a new Sony 27" TV. Sadly, I can't get the Sony to learn the on/off command from the Sony TV. All other functions on the universal remote work fine. Somehow the vl900 won't shut off the TV no matter what I do even though I can change channels, look at the menu, etc. Repeated attempts to teach the vl900 to learn the Sony TVs on/off have been fruitless. Is this a known glitch or is my vl900 defective?

Out of curiosity, why do you need to learn the command? The built-in preset code should work fine.

Because the preset code doesn't work. Or rather, it leads to all functions operating except the ON/OFF command. Hence my attempts to program this separately.
This seems especially weird for both a Sony tv (WEGA) and Sony universal remote.

Is it the power button that doesn't work or the default macros? And what model of TV is this!

Power button only fails with the Sony 27" WEGA tv. Otherwise it works with power on/off of VCR, DVD, Satellite. Other macros work.

This is indeed very strange -- is this a European model? A very new model? If the power button is marked as "System Off" you may have a problem with a built-in macro -- let me know.
