I have a home theater system consisting of various brands of equipment going through a Sony HT-DDW740 Rcvr/Amp and am using the VL900 to control the system. Everything works well except that none of the device codes that comes with the VL900 for the Sony Amp allow control of the surround sound modes, etc of the Amp. Most other needed control functions are fine. The Amp came with a non-learning, non-programmable remote, RM-U306, that requires the Amp to be set up in the AV2 mode to work, while the VL900 requires the AV1 mode for it to work. Does there exist a device code for this Amp in the AV2 mode for use with the VL900? Is there another way that I could gain control of the surround sound functions with the Vl900? I have tried the search for code function and learning from the RM-U306, but neither helped.
Thank You
Gene Wilder

Why don't you teach your VL900 all the IR signals using the RM-U306. If you use preset codes the VL900 will only work if your AMP is setup in AV1 mode, but then your original remote will not work.

So best solution is leave your AMP in AV2 mode so your RM-U306 remote works. Then use the learning feature of the VL900 to learn the signals from your RM-U306 remote.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that on an unused device button and it seems to work OK. I will now learn on the amp button and hopefully get full control.

Thanks

If you tried before to learn to the
amp buttons,but it ddn't work, you'll
have to delete before trying again.

Everything working fine now!! Learning from the U306 in the AV2 mode did the trick. Timing is critical on the VL900, as I had to insert some un-needed commands and change the delay mode when setting up some commands to the TV and the Amp during programming the system control buttons. Thanks for the help guys.
