I was hoping to be able to use my SONY 3000 to fully replace the remote that came with my Samsung DVD/VCR Combo. I found no single component code for such a device, and assumed I'd operate the DVD and VCR controls by setting them up individually using the respective component buttons on the 3000. Code 1025 got the VCR functions working through the RM3000, but the listed Samsung DVD code did not work. So, I attempted to teach the RM3000 the DVD functions using the Samsung remote. But, I've run into prolems with some basic DVD operations: The Samsung remote has a single key which you press once to "search" (which skips you to the next scene/chapter). To intead SCAN ahead, you HOLD DOWN the same Samsung remote button, to view the DVD at 2X speed. If you continue to press the same button, the viewing speed increases to 4X, 8X, 16X, etc. When I attempted to teach my SONY 3000 the use of the Samsung button, it only learned the Search function. So, I can only skip ahead using the 3000 to work my DVD... I can't scan, which is a big problem.

I'd appreciate any recommendations...

Did you hold down the button when teaching, until the remote finished learning?

I did hold it down, but the confirmation beep from the 3000 sounded quickly. It learned the first transmission from the Samsung remote, only. I tried again, but it does not seem to continue to learn, after the first beep.

Which is strange, since it should be the exact same signal (it's the device that normally changes its function depending on whether it gets a "short" or "long" burst).
