I thought one great use for the larger-text label keys would be to place frequently used commands, even if they are on the same screen above.

Using the original remotes, I used the learn mode to train some label keys on the particular commands. The problem is that the label keys are very inconsistent in successfuly getting the desired command executed (perhaps 50% success rate). This is for all-Sony components.

The pre-programmed commands work flawlessly. I tried reprogramming the keys a number of times, under a variety of lighting conditions, but there was no improvement.

Since the pre-programmed keys work perfectly, I was wondering if it were somehow possible to copy the IR command from a preset key into a label key.

If not, could someone provide a more successful method of training the AV3000? I've noticed that the transmission duration was signigicantly different from the learned command to the preset command.

Thanks!

No, you can't copy codes. When learning, don't just press the original button. HOLD it down until the RM-AV3000 finishes learning.

Did that. Multiple times. There was no change. The learned codes from *sony* remotes work perhaps 60% of the time. I have one non-Sony component (a Denon receiver) which I've also used the learning mode of the AV3000, and that works just fine. The most problematic is the Sony DirectTV receiver.

Do I have a defective unit? I'm open for suggestions!

Can't rightly say, since I don't have any such problems -- have you tried resetting the unit? Learning in a different room (different lights)?
