I bought the VL700S but, I can't work the Motorola HDTV Digital cable box. Also, I can turn on and off as well as control the volume on a Harmon Kardon receiver but, I can't change the input.(for ex.- switch from tuner to DVD).

Out of the box, the CBL/SAT key on the vl700 is set to cable, but I think digital cable box codes are under SAT's. So try this;
1. press S, do not hold
2. press CBL/SAT key
3. press PLAY and 3
Now try code 017.
As for HK, if the preprogrammed code doesn't map the inputs, you'll have to teach.
