I've had this remote for a little over a year now, 2 weeks ago I purchased a new Philips Widescreen/HDTV, none of the codes for the tv worked so I tought the remote each button. The problem is when I use the left or right arrow buttons to change the screen from widescreen, to auto, to super wide, or any other choice, the remote gets stuck in a loop where the .>> the d and the 2 crescents keep blinking and the only way to stop it is pull out a battery. I called sony and after talking to level 2 tech support I was told they remove wasn't designed with changing between wide screen and non widescreen in mind. So I'm pretty much screwed. Anyone ever have this happen?

Huh? What Sony said makes absolutely no sense.

However, the "stuck transmitting" problem is NOT new, just try searching the forum. Quite often it is caused by an improperly learned code. Try learning the codes again. Remember to HOLD the button down until the remote finishes learning. If that doesn't work you can try the "just press it" technique. Also, do this in a room with the lights off (or at least very low ambient lighting NOT close to where you're learning).

(Corrected a stupid typo...)

I totally agree with Daniel, sonys tech support is about as good as Direct TV's(not any good)

In most cases a dirty code is because you didnt hold the button until the 3000 beeps, BUT I ran across th opposite last nite, with a Denon CDR, the play button required a short burst, locked up everytime with the long burst, all other functions worked fine.

Keep tweaking, its worth the time

why have a nice system if you cant operate it, program the remote the right way the FIRST time!

I didn't think it made sense either, but the 2 people I talked to seem a bit out of it. I will try learning them again but Im pretty sure Ive tried multiple times, and oddly enough the arrow buttons work fine if im in menu mode or something. It only happens when i press them by themselves to change to different wide screen modes.
