Hi gang. Greetings from Cork, Ireland.
Ive searched and searched on here for the last hour and havent been able to find an answer to this. Maybe im missing something, but anyways....
I have X10 lighting in my theater. Works fine with my Av3000. Channel buttons dim + and - which is fine.
What i want to do is create a macro that dims all the lights (say system 2) and create another macro (say system 3) that brightens them back up. Or could i assign them to the scenes in lighting.
What i have tried so far is a macro with the Channel - keys but it takes loads of presses and doesnt get very far. I have tried the interval times and the times but to no avail. It might get to 50% brightness after a while. While if i keep the Channel - pressed it goes down in no time.
Is there a way to do this, or is it impossible. Help, this is driving me mad.

Here is a method which will work for you. You will need another learning remote to be able to use this procedure, since I understand the X10 does not come with a remote. 1. Learn the channel- and channel + commands from the 3000. 2. Take a spare key on the 3000, put it in learn mode, hold the other remote opposite, and press the Volume + or - button twice. This will give you a button that moves the volume up or down 2 times. 3. When a button with more than one learned command is used in a macro, it will repeat 3 times. So, if you use this button twice in a macro, it will give you 6 steps of the volume. If you press the volume button 3 times when teaching to the 3000, this will move the volume up or down 3 times instead of twice, so this key in a macro, used 3 times, would give you 9 steps of volume change, etc. 4. You will have to play with this a bit to get the desired results.
I hope I have stated this so you can understand it, because it can be a confusing procedure if you haven’t done it before. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Ron

Sorry about this, maybe its too early or late in the day for my brain, but regarding step 1..do i learn the + - from the sony onto the x10 remote.
Or do i just press the + or - twice on the remote i would be pointing at the sony.

If the X10 has an infrared remote, and you can learn the signals from it, then point it at the 3000 and press the volume control button 2 or 3 times (depending on what you decide to use), and the command will be learned on the X10. If it doesn’t have an infrared remote, then you will have to teach the volume +/- buttons to another learning remote, and then point that at the 3000 and press the button from the other learning remote to send the signal to the 3000. Then you can use that key in a macro. I wish I knew more about X10 so I could tell you exactly, but we will have to work around that. Hope I am clearer this time.

Tried all the above, but no luck. It dims that bit faster, but not as fast as just holding down the channel - key. Oh well. Giving up at this stage. Thanks for your help Ron, greatly appreciate it.

Hang on.. Tried it again with various presses of the key i was learning with and it works alot faster. For some reason i think i got 3 longish presses while learning and it seems to hold up.
Thanks again guys.
