Page 22 of manual describes "...erase learned function of Comp Sel PB....". I tried to erase the CBL/SAT PB so I can assign it something else. The instructions are confusing. Tried every way I could but it doesnt work. I don't remember teaching it anything, but it powers on/off a Sony DVD/VCR I just got, and I don't want that (would be tolerable if it didn't toggle).
Also tried "...clear all signals learned (for CBL/SAT)....", but the CBL/SAT lamp never went off (end of erase).
Any ideas?

It sounds like you programmed the Power On command to that key (see page 26). Delete the command and try again. At the end of erase, did you press the set button again?

Ahhhh! I tried again by holding SET over 3 sec (blinking started) and not letting go--then pressed and held CBL/SAT 'til its lamp lighted, then release both, and it WORKED. Before, I must not have held CBL/SAT long enough or let go of SET or ??? Thanks for your comments, Ron. I really like this remote, and would go to a lot of trouble to make it work. NOW; the work begins. I understand Sony's new DVD/VCRs can't be dumped onto a programmable, because they've abandoned their centuries-old "001" code. I'll have to teach one key at a time. I did that with my Onkyo Amp and Panasonic Monitor, so no big deal--once you get the rhythm down.
