When the remote gets stuck in transmit mode is there anything you can do but pull out the batteries and re-set the clock? It's kind of a pain. This time it did it I took the batteries out as I always do and it resets it self completely! All of my programmed stuff is lost! How can I prevent this from happening again? Is there a bad batch of there RC? I had mine for 11 months.

When you take the batteries out, leave them out for at least 30 seconds. Seems the shorter the time the MORE likely you are to have data loss (yes, that is what I mean!)

That is good advice to be used when changing batteries which require replacement. However, when the remote locks up, the only way to clear it is to remove a battery which, unfortunately, results in the catastrophic loss of all programmed data. What type of equipment are you using. Sometimes, a “dirty” code will cause this problem, and the only way to avoid this is to identify the “dirty” code and learn it in a different way (short press versus long press of the original remote). Were you teaching any codes when it locked up, or did it just do it during normal use?

when I had problems with unwanted repeat macro numerals tec support suggested to me as a last resort "remove batteries for at least 3 hours and press all the buttons" .... after 7 hours my programming was still there ? the programed factory reset did the job but problem wasn't resolved.

Sorry it took so long to reply back family issues. I just reprogrammed the remote and have not had any problems with it getting stuck.

after 7 hours my programming was still there ? The RM-AV3000 does not require power to store its settings. The old Sony customer service yarn "remove the batteries and press every button" has been said for years, but I don't think has worked since the early 90's.

I've had the same problem myself with the AV3000. On occasion, the remote will go into a transmitting loop when I press the page up/down buttons for my Bell ExpressVu receiver (based on a Dish model, which reflects problems with Dish receivers in previous threads). I've had it loop 4 or 5 times since I got it in the summer. I've tried programming short-presses and long-presses, but the problem persists. About half the time, I lose all my settings and have to reprogram again. To stop the loop, I've always taken one of the batteries out for only a few seconds. I just read in a previous thread that it's recommended to leave your battery out for at least 20 seconds. I hope this works as a short-term problem.
I hear that the 6000 model HDTV receivers don't have this problem (must be different codes). I really wish there was some way to update the firmware, but alas we live in a disposable world and we're stuck with this very annoying problem. I bought this remote as an upgrade to my AV2000, which has never had a problem like this.
Disgruntled Visor...
