I am trying to change the AV mode from AV2 to AV1 on the STR-DA3000ES receiver but have been unable to figure it out?? Anybody know how to get this information is NOT in the user manual. My universal remotes are not working with the AV2 mode.
Thanks!

Very confusing. I couldn’t find anything in the manual either on changing the command mode on the receiver. I found something on changing the command mode on the remote (page 59), but when you go to the manual for the RM-LG112, which I believe is the remote you are using, page 14 gives different instructions. Either way, one of them should let you change the remote. After changing the remote to AV1, try the Amp Registration procedure (page 19) and see if that changes the receiver to AV1. Also, see this thread and see if anything works, which I doubt from looking at the manual, but it is worth a try. [Link: remotecentral.com]

Yea I was able to change the remote to AV1. I will look again at the manual for receiver registration but I read it at least 5 times and couldnt find it?? I saw the other thread but it doesnt look promising. I will try again to call Sony support (they were closed last night) maybe they can answer this?

I wouldn't count on too much help from Sony customer support (based on past experiences). When you changed the remote to AV1, does it now operate the receiver (probably not). Try opening the Customize menu (page 42), and rotate the menu to see if there isn’t something there with AV1 or AV2. If all else fails, try this link to send an email to Sony. I alsways get good results with the email, but not with customer support. [Link: products.sel.sony.com]

Thanks for the link! I couldnt get the email to go through from work but I did find the 800 number. I got an answer although I wont be able try it until I get home. The procedure is for anyone interested:
From the front panel on receiver, Press and hold the power button, Press the Input Mode button to toggle between AV1 and AV2.
The procedure for the remote is in the remote manual.
Thanks again for the help!

Good deal. Let me know if it works and I will add it to my receiver thread. Also, let me know which procedure you used to change the remote so I can add that too.
I also learned something about the email link. I clicked on “Sony Support” at the top of the page, then on the Home Audio/Video picture, selected Receivers in the Product menu, entered the model number, entered “Change command mode to AV1” in the question block, clicked on “knowledgebase”, clicked on 1., and the procedure came up. You can enter any receiver model number there and it will work.

The procedure varied a little from the customer service but I was able to get the receiver changed:
To change receiver mode: With receiver powered off but plugged in, On front panel press and hold the input button Press the power button to toggle AV control modes.
Hope this helps someone else!

Thanks for the reply. I added this series of receivers to my AV1/AV2 thread the other day with the Sony procedure, but I have edited it to show this procedure.
