Hi I've got a Sony AV-3000, and a Sony FM Stereo/Fm-Am Receiver STR-KP
how do I get it to learn the function controls for this receiver. and which button on the AV-3000 should I assign it to. Thanks in advance.

You can put it on any button you want, but most people used the amp button. When you assign the preset code for Sony receivers, 4001, it automatically makes that screen the amp screen.

Page 19 of the manual deals with the learning function, which is how you get to learn your other remotes commands on the 3000.
Commander off/component key
press a button
learn to it

Your question, and many others which may come up, will be answered somewhere in the following threads.
