I'm a rookie with a new RM-AV3000. Although I can't find the thread again I read somewhere in this forum that the square lables for a component cannot be renamed except for those names already set. Thanks to whoever posted it, I was getting frustrated.
However, I'm extremely disappointed as practically none of the labels are useful for my DVD reocrder, CD player or Amp. I guess I misread the or didn't understand the specs before buying the unit. Does anyone have any suggestions for other means of labeling these keys? Sticky labels placed n the display pad maybe?? Thanks in advance.

Looking at the charts in the back of the manual which list all the preset functions for various components, and the display of the keypad on page 103, it would appear that most of the commonly used commands are already adequately labelled.
For those that are not, that is what the 12 label keys at the bottom are for.
The only screen I see any particular problm with is the amp, because for example, each receiver calls its sound fields different things, but then again, there are the 12 label keys.
Sticky labels might work, but you would have to write enough on them to cover all the various functions of the different components, which is not really practical. I agree that Sony should have provided a way to edit the text on the square buttons like they did on the label buttons, but they didn't.
