I just bought the Sony Remote and so far It's great. I have a question; I've programmed the remote to turn on my Sony TV (Code 8001) Motorola Digital Cable Box (Code 3103) and my Sony Amp/DVD (Code 4001) it work fine, but I don't have all the features on the cable remote (IE: Volume control, etc.) on the Sony Remote. It does have some of the features such as "Info", etc. Is there a way I can add more from the cable remote to the Sony. I'm new at this, and am having some difficulty figuring out the manual. Thanks!

As long as you have the original infrared remote, you can teach anything there to the AV3000. You can learn on virtually every key on the 3000, so you can put things where they are most convenient to you. To learn: Commander off/muting Press component key Press any key (square key, rectangular key, or most of the hard buttons) Hold other remote opposite, press the button, and the 3000 will give a long beep Continue as necessary Hold commander off for 3 seconds when done to exit the learning mode.
If you are going to control the volume on the cable box itself, you can learn the volume keys, but most people control the receiver volume. To set the 3000 to control the receiver volume rather than the tv volume, see page 29.

Hi Ron, I am unclear about the part where you said " Press any key, etc." What I did was put the remotes face to face (about 3" apart) , commander off/muting, pressed component key (2) then I pressed "Learn" on the screen, then press the button I wanted to "transfer" from the cable remote to the 3000, I didn't receive any "Beep" . Obviously I done something wrong. Like I said I'm new at this.

Sorry about that. I missed a step (that's what I get for thinking I know what I am doing). Corrected sequence: Commander off/muting Learn Component key Press any key on 3000 Press key on original remote, etc
Alternate sequence (saves a step or two): Commander off/component key Press any key on 3000, etc

Thanks Ron, When I put the two remotes together, waited for the "Learn" to flash, then held down the button on the cable remote, it gave a short beep, but did not take. when I tried to do it again, I could'nt get the "Learn" to flash buy hitting any button. Everytime I would hit a button a "NG" (I think that is what it was) . Sorry to be such a bother, maybe it would be best just to leave it the way I've already got it unless you've got another idea.

No bother. We will get it to work. Sometimes you have to try different methods. The 3000 is sensitive sometimes, so go into a darkened room, away from any fluorescent lights. Also, vary the distance between the two remotes. There is no reason for you not to be able to program the 3000 but it may take a few more tries. I searched the forum and there doesn't seem to be any problems programming the Motorola cable box, so it is probably a matter of technique. You may have to clear the component key and start over. To clear: Commander off/muting Set Reset Compo Component button or label key Yes Also, before you get into system macro's, do what this thread says [Link: remotecentral.com]
