I just purchased AV-3000 and having trouble with it.

I created a macro to turn things off and on. My last command is VCR Power. I only inputted this once but when I try the macro, the VCR power commands fire twice. What am I doing wrong here. VCR is Philips and is of preset and not LEARN kind.

Secondly, My Nakamichi AV receiver (AV-10) which is under AMP component select seems to show only the bare essential commands. I don't see all the AV commands that I see on display in the manual. I have tried all 3 codes in the manual. Do I need to teach it with LEARN or is there another way?

Lastly, component select on Nakamichi receiver also works as power on in Nak remote. So when I use macro such as: AMP Power, AMP CD, CD Power, it will turn on all components fine, but when I push Macro to turn everything off, Receiver switches off and back again since AMP CD command turns it on. I can use AMP CD, CD Power Macro but this will not turn off the receiver since the receiver will only select CD. Is there a way around this or do I need to use a seperate System buttons for turning on and off.

Thanks for any help.

1. Before you do anything else, if you have not cleared the System 1 and 3 keys, see this thread
[Link: remotecentral.com]

2. Try making the macro again and only lightly pressing the power key when you put it in the macro. Sometimes hitting the key too hard will cause it to repeat. Also, and I am no expert on this, I think that Philips commands may sometimes repeat themselves.

3. Just learn whatever commands you need. It is normal for amp or receiver component codes to show, as you say, only the bare essentials, probably due to the large diversity of components being sold these days.

4. Have you tried making the “receiver power off” the last command, or at least put it after any CD commands? If this doesn’t work, then you will definitely need separate system control macro buttons to turn the receiver on or off, since you have described the problem perfectly and it will continue to do this as long as you have it on the same macro. If you have a switched power outlet on the receiver, you can plug the CD into it, but then the CD will come on whenever the receiver is turned on, which you may not want to do.

Thank you Ron for the quick reply. Your solution on #1 worked! As for #4, I created 2 macros for DVD play to return the setting for TV viewing.

My wife absolutely loves it. 1 remote to control them all! <- Sorry about the bad pun :)

Ron, I followed your advice from:

[Link: remotecentral.com]

But it didn't work. I tried all System 1, 2, and 3 buttons. They each turn on the DVD player for 1 second then turn it off immediately! Even though pressing the DVD power button itself does turn on the DVD player normally.

I'm starting to like the RM-AV3000 but if I cannot turn on my DVD player using the macro, I'll have to look for another remote!!!

Please help.
