I have tried searching but have not found any hits. I am looking for the best solution for control of my Theater. I think I can do most of what I need with MX-500/700, but have not been able to confirm the direct input/viwing mode selection on the HS10, so I thought I would see if this level of control is doable on the Sony remote. Can the RM-AV3000 perform direct selection of inputs and viewing modes within macros for the Sony VPL-HS10?

Thanks

You should be able to get the same level of control with either the MX-500/700 or the AV3000. I read through the manual but did not find anything about what you were asking, probably because I don’t have an HS-10 and don’t understand all the options. The main thing is that if you have the keys on the original remote to do what you want, then you can copy them to either learning remote. If you have to go into a menu to change modes, then you can still do this in a macro by loading all the applicable commands. There are no codes for projection tv’s in the AV3000, so you will have to learn everything, but this is probably the same as for the MX-500/700, so the choice is yours. Bottom line is that if you can do it on one, you should be able to do it on the other.

The HS10 remote can access the diferent inputs, but only by "cycling" through them in a predetermined order. The same is true for the viewing modes. I can kearn these from the existing remote, but setting up macros does not work with this type of "cycling" control, since you have no way of knowing what input or mode was used the last time the theater was on. So you end up running a macro, and then still have to play with the input selection manually. To do this fully in a macro, you need 'discret' codes that directly access the desired input. That is the question I am trying to answer. Whether I end up with an MX-500/700, or the Sony AV3000 does not really matter, I just need something that will allow direct input an mode selection that can be incorporated in a macro.

Thanks,

On conventional tv’s, hitting the channel +/- button or any channel numeric button will return the input back to the tv input. If your projection tv works like this, you can use this as a starting point so your macro will always return to the tv tuner, and then go from there to the input you need by adding the necessary number of tv/video buttons.

If you want to use discrete codes, you will have to get an RS/OFA remote. See this thread for more info on discrete codes. When you have digested all of the info, let us know if you have any questions. [Link: remotecentral.com]
I am not certain that discrete codes will work with your HS-10. You can always get a RS/OFA remote to test with and return it if it doesn't work.
